Poison Paradise Era - 2010

"Fronted by Raquel Schüler, 'Poison Paradise', the second offering from this Brazilian Band, has the makings of a great release with cool musicianship to boot from all concerned, particularly Márcio Klimberg who is in charge of keys and synths. A kinda cross between Nightwish and a more uptempo Within Temptation, this record will appeal most certainly to fans who are into the above mentioned acts (amongst many others), while at the same time, the band are seen to be certainly making their own mark within the Symphonic Metal Genre. A heavy but melodic offering with tracks like 'Time of my Life', 'The Place Where We Belong', 'Distant Melody' and the catchy 'Queen of Rain' driving the album along at a steady pace. 'When You Call My Name' and the awesome 'The Only One' are slower ballady tracks, and as I have said many times before, I can be a sucker for the occasional power ballad! I like this 13 track release (a lot), while the album is expected to be available within the next week or two. Meanwhile, check the band out at www.myspace.com/hydriaofficial or http://www.hydria.com.br.

Mirror Of Tears Era - 2008 & 2009

“Hydria, although quite a new band in the heavy metal scene, already has a respectable background. In less than 2 years they have supported Within Temptation and Tarja Turunen and played in some important festivals in Rio de Janeiro. They released their debut album called “Mirror of Tears”, a Do-It-Yourself home studio recording. I admit that this type of band with its gothic-heavy-progressive approach, for me, is surpassed, but it is impossible not to become surprised with the skills shown in this first album: good production and cover art and a very talented band. “Calisto” is the intro for the long track “Mirror of Tears”, a kind of mixture between Nightwish and Dream Theater with very good guitars and vocals, in which Rachel Schuler acts a bit like Turunen. Enjoy your Greed” and “Sober Dreams” are gothic songs, with a very interesting result while “The Ghost Raven and The Eagle” emphasizes the heavy metal side. As most of the new bands, Hydria is still searching for their own style. That makes good tracks as “Break the Silence”, the beautiful ballad “Angel’s Lullaby” and the Iron Maiden influenced “Beautiful Storm” sound a little like “déjà vu”. Of course that doesn’t take off their talent. What they need now is very long time on the road, testing their own songs to finally come up with their own style. A promising debut album still based on their influences, but with a quality level by far above the average. Now it’s time to get on the road!”

With only half an hour of delay, the doors of Espaço Lux in São Paulo opened to a vast line of people. By 7 PM the supporting band, Hydria, started their show. The band is Márcio Klimberg (keyboards), Fabiano Martins (drums), Marcelo Oliveira (guitar) and Turu Henrick (bass), lead by singer Raquel Schüler, a very charismatic singer with a promising voice. Hydria showed their melodic metal with a short but very professional set.
- DYNAMITE

Eleven years after the release of Within Temptation’s debut album, the Brazilian audience could finally see them performing live. The presentation took place at Espaço Lux, located in São Paulo. The place was almost completely full of fans: 3 thousand people. There were fans from various other cities and states. First, the opening act of a band from Rio de Janeiro: Hydria. This band catches the audience attention for its great songs and charisma. Rachel Schüller’s and Luana França’s beauty is another remarkable point, at least for the male part of the audience. Hydria is now recording their debut album which is going to be released next month. It’s worth checking it out!”

“Sold out? Yes, completely sold out: 3 thousand people anxious to see Within Temptation. The band had the privilege to play for an audience with people from various regions of the country. The fans could wait to see Sharon Den Adel and the almost complete band (guitarist and Sharon’s husband Robert Westerholt could not tour since they didn’t find a babysitter to take care of their daughter). The band called Hydria was the supporting act. They gave a show of talent, charisma and most of all, beauty. The lead singer Rachel Schüler really impressed the male audience...

''Tarja Turunen – Canecão – Rio de Janeiro – Brazil : Hydria was the band in charge of doing the opening show. They intended to release their debut album “Mirror of Tears” but unfortunately there was a delay and the cd’s could not be pressed on time. Although a brand new band, Hydria already played with important bands like Within Temptation. At 8:30PM Raquel Schüler (vocals), Marcelo Oliveira – (guitar and vocals), Luana França (guitar), Turu Henrick (bass), Márcio Klimberg (keyboards), Fabiano Martins (drums) entered on stage and rocked the audience, which reacted with enthusiasm and satisfaction during the whole show, but most of all in songs like “Mirror of Tears”, “Angel's Lullaby”, “Beautiful Storm” and “The Nymph”. At the end of their 40 minutes set they left the stage under applauses and became surprised with so many fans asking for them to pose for photos and a lot of praises!
